What is JSON-LD?
JSON-LD (JavaScript Object Notation for Linked Data) is a structured data format that describes page content in a machine-readable way. It is embedded as a script tag in the page head and is Google’s recommended method for implementing schema markup.
Why JSON-LD matters
Structured data helps search engines understand what your content is — an article, product, FAQ, event or organization. It enables rich results (ratings, breadcrumbs, FAQs) and improves how Google — and AI systems — interpret and cite your pages.
Common JSON-LD types for SEO
- Organization, WebSite and BreadcrumbList (site-wide).
- Article, BlogPosting for content pages.
- Product, Review, FAQPage for commerce and Q&A.
- LocalBusiness for local SEO.
JSON-LD and GEO
AI engines consume structured data to ground their answers. Clean JSON-LD gives them explicit facts about your business and content — increasing the chance of accurate citations.
